Description:
Stems 1-2.5 m tall. Leaf blades orbicular in outline, 7-15 cm long, with 5-7 shallow lobes, bases cordate, margins crenate; petioles 2-5 cm long. Lobes of involucre 8-12 mm long. Petals 35-50 mm long, white to red; styles 20-40. Mericarps 20-40, horseshoe-shaped, 5-7 mm long. Flowers Jun.

Distribution:
Santa Cruz and Santa Catalina Island; widely cultivated in North America; native of Europe or western Asia.

 

Santa Cruz Island

Scarce; disturbed sites, floodplains; riparian communities; 10-250 ft (3-75 m).
