Description:
Stems ascending to decumbent, 1.5-3 dm long, with many branches. Leaf blades lanceolate to rhombic-ovate, 0.5-3.5 cm long, 0.3-2 cm wide. Flowers in terminal spikes; bracts ovate, more or less equal to sepals. Sepals 2-3, oblong, ca. 2 mm long. Fruit 2-3 mm long, indehiscent; seeds ca. 1 mm wide, dark reddish brown. Flowers May-Nov.


Distribution:
Santa Cruz Island and
San Francisco Bay region to southern California; native of Europe.

Rare; disturbed areas; 100-250 ft (30-75 m). Central Valley at Christy Ranch, Christy Barn, and Stanton Ranch.  First collected at Stanton Ranch in April 1960.
