Plants 3-6 dm tall. Leaf blades 4-10 mm wide. Glumes 17-28 mm long; florets
usually 2; lemmas 12-23 mm long, subglabrous, awns usually straight, 15-25 mm
long, sometimes absent, apical teeth acute, 0.5-1 mm long. Apr-Jun
Distribution:
Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, Santa Catalina, and San Clemente islands;
Guadalupe Island; native of Europe.

1995(1) Introduced. Rare; disturbed sites, abandoned pastures; grasslands; ca. 250 ft (75 m). Central Valley near University of California Field Station, where it was first collected in April 1967. |
