Eastern Santa Cruz Island
Volunteer Opportunities

Channel Islands Restoration provides volunteer and educational opportunities in the Channel Islands National Park, including on Eastern Santa Cruz Island.  This is a particularly wonderful opportunity for school or youth groups that emphasize education in ecology or have a service-learning component.  Participants make single day trips or camp overnight at the park service facilities at Scorpion Canyon.

Here are a few highlights of this wonderful volunteer experience:

  • Receive a pre-trip slide show and orientation

  • See marine mammals on the boat ride and endemic and rare animals while visiting the island

  • Receive hands on experience with environmental restoration while learning conservation biology and island ecology

  • Receive detailed information on natural history topics including plant communities, plant ID, endangered and endemic species, geology, animal grazing and ecosystem recovery, and the human history of the islands including Native American settlements and European ranching

Please click on the links at left for detailed information on all of these services.  Channel Islands Restoration is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and we have worked with more than 500 volunteers in the past seven years, including public and private elementary, middle and high schools, plus youth groups, boys and girls clubs and college groups.  If you would like more information about this unique service project and educational opportunity please contact Channel Islands Restoration.
