The historic Main Ranch dates to the 1850s.  This is a view from the ridge to the south of the ranch looking north.  Almost all of the buildings at the ranch were build in the 19th century, including the following:

  • The Horse Barn on the northern side of the complex dates to the late 1880s.  Most of the building materials (including the bricks) were manufactured on the island.

  • The Milk Barn on the western end of the complex also dates to the late 1880s.  Most of the building materials were also manufactured on the island.

  • The chapel (La Capillia de Santa Cruz del Rosario) on the northern end of the Main Ranch complex dates to 1891

  • The adobe on the south side of the complex dates to the 1850s.

  • The winery buildings (located on the eastern end of the ranch) date to the late 1880s and were built from mostly island manufactured materials.  Grapes were crushed in the upper building, and the wine was fermented in the lower building (fermentation cellar).

  • The Comedor is located on the south side of the ranch and also dates to the 1880s
